I. Guardians of Gondor Kinship Recruitment
If the recruit is interested in joining, he/she should fill out a Kinship Application. Upon receiving the recruit's application, an officer will contact the recruit in game or through email. A Kinship invite will take place if application is approved and the Recruit will remain at Recruit rank for 2 weeks before achieving Member rank.
Requirements of All Applicants
Guardians of Gondor and it's community rely on having a quality Kinship and a place that they can call their "home away from home". We are a fun loving community and don't like to take on any unnecessary drama. Because of this, we have a few requirements for all of our applicants.
Please make sure you meet these requirements before putting in an application:
1. Must be at least 17 years old.
2. Must be willing to participate in Kinship activities.
3. Character must be level 20 or higher.
4. Must have Ventrilo for raids.
5. We also require you to register at www.theguardiansofgondor.com and use our forums as well as sign up for events.
* We ask our applicants to be at least 17 years of age because, while we try to keep things civil between our Kinship members, our chat is not always PG-13. Occasionally mature topics will be discussed with swearing.
Membership Limitations
Applicants with a character name in bad taste will not be considered for entry.
Any character that doesn't log on for 30 days will be considered inactive and removed from the Kinship. Members must post on the forums to avoid this.
II. Guardians of Gondor Hierarchy
Guardians of Gondor is governed by the officers with the overall say going to the Leaders of the Kin. Generally the officers vote on most matters involving Guardians of Gondor and the Leaders finalize policy based on the vote. It is the officer's job to maintain Kinship unity and keep Guardians of Gondor a fun place to call a "home away from home".
Membership Ranks
Recruit - This is the rank bestowed to those that are new to Guardians of Gondor for 2 weeks or longer. New Recruits cannot roll on Raid drops. During this period, the recruit is expected to group with kin members and officers so as to get a feel for whether GoG is a good fit. If the recruit does not log-in during this period they may be dismissed from the kin without notice. If the Officers feel the player does not fit well with the kin in their desired role (ie. the recruit wishes to raid but doesn't prepare for them), the recruit may also be dismissed without notice.
Member - This rank is the core of the Guardians of Gondor community. To obtain this rank you must have shown dedication to Guardians of Gondor and it's members during the Recruitment trial period.
Officers - Vote on matters involving the direction, and management of the Guardians of Gondor.
Leaders - Galeye & Poppinia
Duties: This are the Leaders of Guardians of Gondor. Overall say on all matters, maintain vent and website, and the ones to talk to if you have an issue with an officer.
Raid Leaders - Galeye, Turuin
Duties: This Officer has shown a great deal of dedication towards our raids. They are responsible for making sure raids are well coordinated, final say on attendance, and handles any drama that may occur related to the raids.
Treasury - Poppinia
Duties: Coordinating donations and keeping their characters stocked with supplies for raiding. Paying the upkeep on the kin house.
PvE Officer - Greystar
Duties: Collect and analyze raiding strategies.
General - Kershana, Paladen, Thoranil, Wackavelli, Macthelion
Duties: Help kin members with class issues, invite new recruits, promote recruits after two weeks, deal with drama, keep an eye out for useful information.
Removal of Officers
Any Guardians of Gondor Officer can choose to step down from their position at any time. Also, any Guardians of Gondor Member can petition to have an Officer removed.
III. Guardians of Gondor Community
The fun loving "home away from home" community feeling of Guardians of Gondor is what we are all striving for. We want a place where we can sit back, relax, and escape our real life endeavors for a few hours each evening with other people we enjoy spending time with. There are a few areas that need to be addressed to make this happen.
Behavior
You are not expected to behave yourself in any formal way. However, we do not tolerate any bashing, name calling, or flaming of anyone else in The Lord of the Rings Online over any public channels (ie: Out of Character, Kinship, Fellowship, Forums). We are here to have fun and we don't want unnecessary drama.
Creating unnecessary drama about loot, raid attendance (some of our raids may be invite only), or any other issue is not tolerated. While we want everyones opinion on any matter, continually beating a dead horse will not be tolerated as it brings down the whole kin.
Disciplinary Action
Any violation of the Guardians of Gondor Charter (ie: intentionally rolling Need on an item that your character cannot use) is subject to disciplinary action. These include:
1. A verbal warning from an Officer.
2. Being demoted to the rank of "Recruit" for a period of time.
3. Removal of all characters from the Kinship.
If an Officer is present for any violation of the Guardians of Gondor Charter he/she may take immediate action. If a Member reports a violation made by another Member, the Officer should gather information from as many witnesses to the violation as possible before taking action. Any disciplinary actions taken by an Officer must be reported to all the Officers. Any Officers course of action will be determined by what he/she considers best for the Guardians of Gondor Community.
Any violation of the Turbine User Agreement (buying/selling ingame items for real world money) will result in the immediate removal from Guardians of Gondor.
IV. Guardians of Gondor Loot Rules
We all want to develop our in game characters as much as we can. A large part of this is the loot that we acquire while adventuring. As such, there are a few rules regarding loot and the process of acquiring loot while in a Guardians of Gondor Fellowship or Raid.
Fellowship Loot Rules
Bind On Acquire- When the roll dialogue box appears, first examine the item. If it is an item that would be an upgrade for your character, choose Roll. If it is not an upgrade, choose Pass.
Recipes - When the roll dialogue box appears, first examine the recipe. If you have the associated profession with the recipe and do not already know the recipe, choose Roll and ask others to pass. If you do not have the associated profession, or if you already know the recipe, choose Pass.
Raiding Policy
Sign Ups:
Raids are formed with two guiding principles. The first is that we have the required classes to complete the raid and the second is who signed up first. This means that someone who signed up after you may get into the raid for raid balance and you don't. The sign up form prioritizes mains then main alts and then alts, so your alt will get bumped to the end of the line.
Prepared:
When attending a raid you are expected to be fully repaired, carrying stacks of food, potions, tokens and warding/battle scrolls. We do understand that this can be quite costly and have a Treasury Officer that will supply raiders with what is needed. Everyone is expected to donate to the Treasury if they wish to receive raiding supplies. Donations can be money, mats or supplies.
Behavior:
We expect everyone to show up 30 minutes prior to the event start time and stay for the full duration of the raid, usually 3 hours, if you signed up for the raid. If you do not, you may lose your spot in the raid.
You're expected to pay attention to your surroundings, listen to the raid leader and play your class to the best of your abilities. You may be asked to re-trait by the raid leader.
Loot:
We currently do not use a DKP system as we find the /roll policy to be the fairest way of distributing loot at this time.
In newer raids we ask members to come on their main or main alt, the two characters you want to gear up first. Loot is limited to 1 class set-piece per raid. This is to help distribute loot evenly amongst the other participants in the raid. New members may not roll on loot during there recruit period.
GoG also has a 5/6 rule. If anyone has a whole class set of armor minus 1 piece are defaulted the final piece. If more then 1 person is "defaulting" the same piece then those participants will /roll for it. If 2 of the same items drop, the first piece is limited to the players who would "default" it, while the second piece is rollable by anyone.
We do not allow 'passing' on loot drops, it isn't fair to the people who already have the piece you're passing on for them to compete with you for another piece that you both need. If you need an item, then we ask you to roll on it.
Ventrilo:
All members are required to be on ventrilo during raids, all communication will be done via Ventrilo. We require that you have a mic and use it as needed - calling out necessary information. Voice chat is a lot more responsive then text chat, and in raids it can prevent a wipe, or secure a kill. So please make sure you are using Ventrilo, All the information can be found at the top of the website, under the Ventrilo tab. Ventrilo must remain clear during all boss kills. Failure to do so may result in dismissal from the raid.
